The Abbott Collection of Photographs, Slides and Postcards of Windmills in Britain and Europe.

This collection comprises mainly photographic material consisting of black and white and colour photographs, post cards and slides. The series of black and white photographic prints (c 1970) depicts windmills in Belgium, England, France, West Germany, the Netherlands and Portugal (prints are in colour). The series of, mostly, coloured post cards, depicts windmills in Belgium, England, France, West Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, Mallorca and the Golden Gate Park, [San Francisco], North Windmill. A series of 5 booklets and articles (? 1962- ? 1972) describes and illustrates Dutch windmills and includes an article by Geoffrey Abbott about windmills that was published in the Forces’ magazine. A manuscript notebook, 1973-1974, indexed alphabetically, contains notes about windmills that Abbott visited whilst in the Netherlands. 35mm colour slides taken in the late 1960s and early 1970s illustrate windmills in Belgium, France, West Germany.
