Series 1 comprises an album of photographs, ephemera and manuscript material relating to T. J. Biggs’ life and work [c.1891-1981], compiled by his grandson S. H. Mort.
Series 2 – 9 are each divided into two sub-series, the first comprises small items stored in folders in the archive box, the second comprises larger items that are stored in slipcases in MSL 165.
Series 2 comprises 1 folder and 1 large slipcase of general items, including photographs, newspaper clippings, magazine articles, technical drawings and blueprints relating chiefly to cycling and the manufacture of a motor tricycle [c.1888-1946]. The remaining series each cover a different period of employment in Biggs’ life and relate to the design and manufacture of bicycles and cars. Series 3 comprises 1 folder and 1 large slipcase of items relating to Biggs’ work at Raleigh [1892-1893, 1894-1897 and 1904-1905]; series 4 to his work at A. C. Hills [1897-1898]; series 5 to his work at Eastmead and Biggs [1901-1904]; series 6 to his work at Humber [1905-1909 and 1912-1914]; series 7 to his work at Arrol-Johnston [1909-1912 and 1927-1930]; series 8 to his work at F. E. Baker Beardmore Precision [1914-1922]; and series 9 to his work at Arrol Aster [1922-1927].
Series 10 comprises 1 small folder of items relating to his work at Harden-Biggs [1948-1954].
