Collection of 69 black and white photographic prints taken at the former LNER and British Railways Gorton Tank works in Manchester. The prints document the different stages of manufacturing the monoblock cyclinder, from the blank used to form the shape of the casting, to the process of casting and engineering the front cyclinder for the V2 Class steam locomotive.
