Act of Parliament regarding the Warehousing of Foreign Goods in Manchester

The Warehousing of Foreign Goods (Manchester) Act (7 & 8 Victoria c. 31) was a statute passed on July 4, 1844. It permitted foreign goods to be stored and bonded directly within the inland borough of Manchester without immediate payment of import duties. The Act gave Manchester the customs powers of a port city, lowering transport costs for businesses.

The Act includes a schedule listing owners, lessees and occupiers of individual properties in central Manchester. It was passed in 1844, with the text printed in 1848.
