Black and white photographic print of electron microscope produced commercially by Cambridge Instruments.

This microscope was used exclusively for the study of the operation of semiconductor devices and Gunn diodes (Microwave devices) in particular. Research student Mike Hill used this instrument to observe for the first time the charge transit across the diode junction, as described in his PhD thesis.
