Letter from J. W. Bartholomew to Thomas Frankland

Bartholomew describes, with a three-colour sketch [part missing], a new style of construction adopted for the main yard of the ship Valiant. He refers to masts of superior construction recently 'taken out of Dutchmen'.

Although the letter is addressed to Thomas Frankland Esq., the correspondent may be Admiral Sir Thomas Frankland.
