My dear Major Festing.

Dr Gladstone spoke to me
about lecturing on Faraday’s
apparatus & I raised no objection.
[illegible] as some of it was given to me
personally by Faraday himself, and
as I am on the whole better acquainted
with the apparatus than anybody
else, I do not object at your request
to take the matter in hand.

I think Mr. Chandler Roberts
would not under the circumstances
