William Henry Maw was an engineer, journalist and astronomer, President of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (1901-02) and of the Institution of Civil Engineers (1922-23) and editor of the periodical Engineering for 58 years.

Contains photographs of Maw, photographs of his country house, Ashcroft and Addison Road house, plus letters to Zoe dated July 1949. There is an inscription on the inside cover of the biography which reads 'To Zoe from aunt Eleanor a life of William Henry Maw your Grandfather'.
