The Tokyo Steam Engineering Exhibition ran from 25 April to 10 May 1936 and sought to celebrate Watt's bicentenary and raise interest in science and industry. Exhibits were split into three divisions, on Watt and his works, on the development of steam engineering in Japan, and on model works and studies by schoolchildren and college students.

Each the approximately 130 photographs is captioned. There are also several pages of explanatory text.
