One letter written by Alexander Adamson in Bombay on 4 April 1796, addressed to Mrs Catherine Coffie, New York. This contains largely personal news and includes a reference to the fact Adamson's son had been vaccinated against smallpox in what was the first year of the vaccine's use.
One letter written by William Corneil, Col Sgt 97th Rgt, on 3 July 1835 in Kandy, Sri Lanka, addressee unknown, and which refers to Alexander Adamson.
Both letters were transcribed from the originals by Sheila Waters, Froxfield, in January 1962.
