Volume relating to working practices and equipment at Port of London Authority and Merseyside Docks and Harbour Board

Three individual volumes bound into one volume, totalling c 135 pages, with many additional items stuck in. Two of the original volumes cover the Port of London Authority and one covers the Merseyside Docks and Harbour Board, chiefly between the late 1940s and early 1950s. The volumes are profusely illustrated with drawings, plans, maps, diagrams, post cards and photographs. Subjects covered include dock railways, berthing, loading and unloading, stowage of ships, tugs, cranes and other equipment and dock organisation.
