The motor car was designed by James D. Roots, weighed 13 1/2 cwt and had two speeds, by epicyclic gear, of 5 and 13 mph. It was driven by a four stroke single cylinder engine using paraffin. The two men in the photo are unidentified. See article in The Engineer 10 July 1896 pp.40-41.
