Front page includes half-column headed 'Woolf's Patent Steam Engine', comprising three testimonials from separate groups of engineers who visited premises of John Hodgson & Co., Battersea on 14 Mar, and of Messrs. Woolf & Edwards, Mill-street, Lambeth on 17 Apr and 19 Jul. The groups include notable engineers James Barton, John Penn, Henry Harvey, Richard Trevithick, Bryan Donkin, Joshua Field and Joseph Bramah. The advertisement stresses the efficacy of a Woolf 9hp engine over a Boulton & Watt 8hp engine, that licences to construct Woolf's engine can be obtained from A. Woolf, Camborne, Cornwall, and that 'Engines on Mr. Watt's principle may be altered so as to embrace Woolf's improvement'.
