Scale 1:2. The vessel, made by Hadfields Ltd. of Sheffield, was designed in the research department of ICI (Alkali) Ltd. by W.R.D. Manning and S.G. Marshall in 1936 for the pilot plant at Northwich, Cheshire where it produced the first ton of polyethylene between Aug 1937 and Dec 1938. With 2 smaller copies.
