Records of Southern Railway Servants' Orphanage, Woking
The London and South Western/Southern Railway Servants' Orphanage records consists of photographs, reports and pamphlets which detail the foundation of the Orphanage in 1886, its move to Woking in 1909 and daily life in the Orphanage from the 1920s through to the 1940s. The foundation of the Southern Railway Homes for Old People in 1947 alongside the Orphanage, its extension and day-to-day running are also described. The life and work of Henry O'Neill also feature prominently within this archive.
