The photographs relate to a GP from Eastbourne who was accused of forging prescriptions, committing larceny and causing the deaths of several of his patients, namely wealthy widows. He was struck off the medical register and fined �2400. However, he pleaded guilty throughout, was acquitted of murder and eventually returned to practicing, not as a GP but as a research consultants into anaesthetics. The photographs were sourced from various press agencies and DH photographers Jones; Barham; Braithwaite; Garnade; Warner; Coll. Other photographs and stories were sent in by freelance journalists and old acquaintances of the family. The file contains a note redirecting to Dr Forbes (1957).
