John Cooper Collection

This collection relates to the work of John Cooper, set designer for the BBC from the 1950s-1970s, and includes sketches, floorplans, hand-drawn set designs, and photographs of set designs for various productions ranging from children’s classics such as “Rainbow” and “Sooty”, television theatre and ballet such as “This is Show Business” and “Ivor Novello Story”, to television films like “The Sleeping Beauty” and sitcoms such as “Don’t do it Dempsey”. A full list of the productions represented in this archive is available on request. There are also a couple of sketches for Thames Television, such as new unit designs and a mock up vehicle for the engineering department. There are designs in this archive by both John Cooper and John Plant.
