Royal Air Force Wireless Experimental Establishment Monthly Technical Report for January 1919

A monthly technical report containing details of the following experiments:

Exp. 618 Two Way Telephone A “non-oscillating aerial” system in which the aerial oscillations are only created while the microphone is spoken into has great advantages for two -way telephone. See diagram No. 1195 for system connections and curve plotting in diagram No. 1197.

Exp. 671 Test of Constant Speed Windmill on B.T.H. Generator. This test was carried out on a 250 H.P. Bristol Fighter at No.1 (T) Wireless School. A constant Speed Windmill 12 inches in diameter was used on a B.T.H. Generator which was mounted in the Standard fitting on the top of the lower plane, and in the slipstream of the main propeller. The H.T. voltage curve is shown in Diagram No. 1198.

Exp. 703 Design of Aircraft Transmitter for Communication with Tanks. Tonic Train Attachment to Telephone Wireless Aircraft MK II. By simply changing the plug on the remote control enables the pilot to send tonic train or telephony during the same flight. See diagram No. 1196.

None Modification of the “C” Valve. Experiments have been made to modify the construction of the “C” Valve to simplify its manufacture, see Diagram No. 1194.

Exp. 672. Audibility Curves of Th Amplifier. Reference is made to discrepancies in remarks from Signal School Report for October, Page 35 and the W.E.E. Report for August, Page 15.

Exp. 608 Direction Finding Transmissional Methods – Resolving Beacons. Directional finding experiments have been carried out using revolving beacons for the determination of bearing by equality of signal.
