SS Arandora Star was a British Blue Star Line passenger ship built in 1927 as a refrigerated cargo ship. She was converted in 1929 into a cruise ship, and, together with her four sister ships the Almeda, Andalucía, Avelona and Avila, became known as one of the “luxury five”. The album depicts an early voyage to the West Indies following her conversion into a cruise ship. SS Arandora Star was requisitioned as a troop ship during WWII, and in 1940 was sunk with heavy loss of life.
