Volume of Goad Fire Insurance Plans for the Manchester Carriers’ Warehouse District

A first edition volume containing details of railway stations and warehouses within 30 miles of Manchester. The first survey carried out in 1889 is supplemented with details of further surveys carried out until June 1961. The coloured drawings of the warehouses contain details of the type of construction and materials used along with later alterations, usage at the time of the survey and the name of tenant or owner of the warehouse.

The volume has been periodically retrieved by Goad and updated, before being returned. If the alterations were minimal a slip of paper has been used to overlay the old details with new details of either change of use or if the old building has been replaced, along with dates of change.
