The image was taken during preparations for aviators Jack Alcock and Arthur Whitten Brown's pioneering non-stop transatlantic flight from Newfoundland to Ireland. The photograph features Alcock and Vickers Ltd mechanics working on the Vickers Vimy aircraft.
