A collection of material relating to the development of British built launch vehicles. For the most part, this covers Black Knight and Black Arrow but some other projects are also mentioned. Black Knight was a single-stage rocket designed to test the re-entry characteristics of the then in development Blue Streak missile. Black Arrow was a satellite launch vehicle that made use of much of the work undertaken on the Black Knight project. It is made up of It is made up of a variety of material including personal working folders, minutes, company brochures, manuals and other technical material. This collection was put together by the Royal Aircraft Establishment’s Launcher Division as part of these projects.
