various castings used at the collieries and for which the owners wish us to tender for supplying them for a twelvemonth.
Called this evening upon Mrs. Hamilton the lecturer on Phrenology in company with other two members of the Darlington Mechanics Institute relative to admitting the members to attend
a lecture to be given to morrow evening at a reduced charge – after stating to her that our funds were not in [struck through] but small and that the members must pay for their tickets. She kindly consented to allow them to attend at 3d each – after the interview I arranged with the Secretary

to inform the members to that effect.

3rd day 14/11mo. Attended the Annual meeting of the Darlington Christian Visiting Christian Society – the Report of the Committee was reviewed and with some alterations was adopted and ordered to be circulated.
It appeared the visitor had paid during the year upwards of three thousand visits – many incidents of a pleasing character were noticed, and good hopes were [struck through] entertained that many individuals were brought to see the error of their ways and are now seeking after better things.
