dental forceps
Dental forceps for lower molars
7 dental forceps, nickel plated steel, in black leather roll case, by Maw, London, 1895-1910
This leather case can be rolled up and carried around by a dentist or surgeon. The case contains seven different types of dental forceps to be used on various sizes and shapes of teeth. Apart from herbal remedies, removing diseased teeth was the only treatment available for dental disease. Each of the forceps has the words “MAW LONDON” punched into the surface. This is a reference to the manufacturer, S Maw, Son & Thompson, whose name is also on the leather case.
