Amuletic pendant, made of silver, representing Instruments of the Passion, separate miniature models of ladder, spike, hammer and pliers, De Mortillet collection, French, 1801-1920

The ladder representing the descent from the cross, the removal of Christ's body from the cross for burial; the spike representing the nails that held him to the cross; the hammer used to drive the nails in to Jesus' hands and feet; and the pliers, used to remove them.
