

Knife, steel, with wooden handle, described in Museum records as a "medicine man's knife for surgical purposes", Ankole, Uganda, 1880-1920
One of several surgical instruments made by Banyankole people, Ankole Kingdom, Uganda, c. 1880-1920, presented to the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum by Revd. J. Roscoe, leader of the Mackie Ethnological Expedition. This knife was reportedly used for surgical purposes by a "medicine man".
