Packet of "Babazo" powder for the treatment of urinary disorders, and syphilis, African, 1987
‘Babazo’ is a traditional African treatment for urinary infections and syphilis. The brown powder is added to soup for adults and to coffee with the juice of three lemons for children. The mixture is drunk once a day. It is unclear how effective this treatment is. The image on the side of the packet is unusual as it shows a pregnant woman appearing to urinate. This may be a depiction of someone with a urinary infection.
