Small silver bowl with engraved figures, animals and birds, with Islamic script round inside of rim, 1801-1910. Silver is used for such things as jewellery, teapots and ornaments for ceremonial occasions. Like gold it is subject to hallmarking, and in the United Kingdom there are two legal silver alloys, Britannia Silver containing 95.84% silver, and Sterling Silver which contains 92.5% silver. The usual alloying elements are copper and cadmium.
