Electrophoresis machine by Locarte, London, circa 1955-60
Electrophoresis is a scientific technique through which entire molecules or fragments of huge molecules such as proteins or DNA can be separated. The sample is placed in a gel and an electric current is passed through it to separate the chemicals according to their electrical charge. This big plastic tank meant that large samples could be separated quickly and easily. This machine was made by Locarte Ltd.
