This Biomek workstation automated many of the laboratory processes essential to the field of the life sciences, and was applied to specialisms such as immunology, drug discovery, molecular biology, and clinical research. The workstation integrated various laboratory functions into one machine complete with a Windows computer interface.

The promotional and marketing material for the Biomek 1000 boasts of its modular platform, which was designed to allow users to upgrade and add options as new technology becomes available.
