Sony TC50 Compact Cassette Recorder with leatherette/synthetic case, c. 1969. Technical features included: built-in microphone, input for optional remote microphone, built-in speaker, and battery condition indicator.

The Sony TC50 was Sony's first pocket-styled recorder using compact casette technology aka Walkman. It was not Sony's first compact cassette recorder but it was the first one which was truly mobile and could be easily carried everywhere.

A Sony TC50 Compact Cassette Recorder was taken near the moon on the Apollo 10 lunar orbit mission in May 1969. An iconic photograph taken in the Apollo 10 module shows Eugene A. Cernan, Lunar Module Pilot, holding a Sony TC50 with John W. Young, Command Module Pilot, behind him.

Technical features included: built-in microphone, input for optional remote microphone, built-in speaker, and battery condition indicator.
