Compact Disc Player Model CD100, by Philips, 1983
The compact disc (CD) was developed in a collaboration between the Japanese company Sony and the Dutch company Philips. The first CD player, Sony's CDP-101 was launched on 1 October 1982.
This example is one of Philips' early offerings from 1984, the CD100, which was the first top-loading CD player.
