Student microscope by C. Zeiss, Jena, Serial No.1031 2812, 1906-1945

This compound microscope was designed to be used by medical students. It is small and compact and is typical of the design of Carl Zeiss student micro-scopes. Microscopy was important as histology was a large part of the medi-cal curriculum from the 1870s onwards. The microscope is shown here with two lenses and a case (A154131/2).
