More

This microscope and its two objective lenses were made by Carl Zeiss, although the case is of English origin. German-made Zeiss objective lenses were popular with English microscopists and histologists as many had trained or been educated in Germany. The discipline of histology had developed in the well-equipped laboratories of the German universities, which were unmatched anywhere else in Europe. The lenses and case are shown with a student microscope (A56390).
