McArthur portable microscope, with three objectives, iris, eyepiece, mirror and fine focus, used in malaria research in Borneo, designed by John McArthur, made by Charles Hearson, English, c.1936
The Charles Hearson Model, made about 1936, was one of the first batch of production models. It was used in Borneo malaria research for many thousands of blood films, mosquito larval identifications and dissections with the first incrimination of the vector Anopheles leucosphyrus there in 1941.
