Tin glazed earthenware posset pot, English, two handles and spout, 1731-1800

Posset, made from hot milk curdled with ale or wine, and sometimes thickened with breadcrumbs, was drunk as a popular remedy for colds. Spices could also be added to the mixture.

This pot is tin glazed and ornately decorated with flowers and leaves, with the handles and spout featuring a line and dot pattern.
