Four ivory charity collection tallies, c.1863-1880

Charity and donations were important sources of revenue for hospitals and other social causes. During the 1700s and 1800s, hospitals relied upon charitable donations for money to pay staff and purchase medical supplies. These ivory tallies were possibly attached to collection boxes and are inscribed with the name “Mrs. Vaughan”.
