Royal Worcester Porcelain figurine of a nursing sister of the Nightingale Training School of St. Thomas's Hospital, in box with authentification of being no.500 in limited edition of 500, England, 1963

Only five hundred of these figurines of a nursing sister of the Nightingale Nursing School at St Thomas’ Hospital were made. It was one of a series of four designs showing nursing sisters. The Nightingale Nursing School was set up by Florence Nightingale (1820-1910) in 1860 as part of St Thomas’ Hospital in London. The earliest trainee nurses were given a year’s training and the school is still in existence today – now known as Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery.
