Framed notice by Bromley Group Hospital Committee, relating to Farnborough Hospital, Kent, concerning petty theft by staff, dated 20 October, 1948

This notice, warning against petty theft by the staff of Farnborough Hospital in Kent, England, was produced shortly after the formation of the National Health Service. Petty theft and stealing must have been seen as a problem as the Committee felt the need to take action. Staff were threatened with suspension from duty and police charges if found with hospital property. Staff were also not allowed to accept gifts from patients without permission from the Matron or Administrative Officer and were required to have their bags searched regularly. Farnborough Hospital has since been renamed the Princess Royal University Hospital.
