Collecting box, metal, for wounded soldiers fund, French, 1914 to 1918

This box was used to collect money to assist wounded French soldiers during the First World War. The huge number of casualties was a tremendous strain on medical resources and there were numerous initiatives from all sides to raise such funds. The box may have been used for door-to-door or street collecting or simply placed in a public area.
