Wooden roller, for massaging abdomen to promote peristalsis, Chinese

This design of wooden roller massaged the abdomen. This promoted peristalsis. Peristalsis is the contraction of muscles to propel waste through the digestive tract.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), qi is the energy or life force that flows through meridians, or channels, in the body. Disease and illness occur when qi becomes blocked. Massage is thought to help qi energy flow.
