Wheeled walking frame, by Carters, London, 1901-1930
An adult used this three-wheeled walking frame with its large solid rubber tyres. It also has padded leather rests to support the patient under the arms while they walked. Walking aids such as this led to today’s modern compact walking frames which are used by the elderly, or people recovering from accident or injury. This walking frame was made by London firm J. A. Carters Limited. It was a leading manufacturer of such equipment and ‘suppliers to the Royal family’.
