Abel's Flash Point Apparatus, London, 1910-1912

Abel's flash-point apparatus for petroleum, with two mercury thermometers by Baird & Tatlock Ltd., London, 1910-12, serial no. 3163.

This instrument was adopted as the standard pattern by the Indian and German governments and is identical in construction and use with Abel’s apparatus with the addition of clockwork to open the cover and depress the flame. This means that the pendulum is rendered unnecessary.
