Mahogany baby walker English, c. 1860
Baby walkers like this wooden example are simple devices. They have a surprisingly long history. They help a baby walk by getting them used to an upright position. Walkers also occupy the baby and keep them relatively safe. The design is difficult to tip over. It runs on four castors. Similar baby walkers are available today.
