Double-ended measure, earthenware, teaspoon and dessert spoon, English, 1851-1920
The bases of these two cups are joined together. The larger bowl measures one dessertspoon and the smaller one measures one teaspoon. Household cutlery varied widely in shape and size so it was better to use a device like this to measure medicine. This design was patented by Platt & Son, chemists based in Chester, England. It is shown here with similar medicine measures (A626204, A626208, A626209, A626210).
