Earthenware measure, glazed, introduced by W. Proctor and Son in 1877, English

W Proctor and Son, chemists, introduced this type of medicine measure in 1877. The inscription on the side reads ‘Registered January 1st 1877/1 DR. to lower rim.’ 1 DR. stands for one fluid drachm, a liquid measure used in pharmacy. This is equivalent to a teaspoon’s worth. The four measures (all invented by Proctor and Son) could have been found in medicine chests of the day. It is shown here with similar medicine measures (A608448, A626208, A626209, A626210).
