Model of space formulae for Benzene; Herrmann's formulae

These models were designed to illustrate some of the structures that were proposed for benzene prior to modern molecular orbital theories.

Proposed in 1888, the six carbon atoms lie at the corners of the octahedron while the six hydrogen atoms lie at the corners of an inclined hexagon. Its projection on to a plane surface resembles Kekule’s formula.
