Lead-lined container for transporting radioactive material, unsigned, United Kingdom, 1970-1990
Now decontaminated, this lead container was used to transport radioactive substances. The radioactive rays could not travel through the lead. Working with radioactive materials such as radium and cobalt-60 could cause the
same condition they are used to eliminate: cancer. Careful disposal at the end of treatment prevents their harmful effects seeping into the environment.
