This oxygen tent was used for oxygen therapy. The canopy is made of transparent PVC and could be rigged, then suspended over a hospital bed and tucked in underneath the mattress. Access to the patient was allowed through zipped openings and holes in the canopy allow other tubes or wires to be inserted.

In the 1950s, oxygen therapy treated respiratory diseases such as bronchitis, asthma, croup and tracheitis. The tent was manufactured by Oxy-Thermal Products Limited of London, England. It was used at Whipps Cross Hospital in Leytonstone, London.
