Cattle Trocars, 1870-1900

Two trocars, round for hoven cattle, steel with ebony handles, with German silver cannulae, probably English, 1870-1900. Instruments used for venting accumulated gas in cattle. The sharp point allows the hide to be pierced without any pre-incision. A cannula is left in place after insertion to allow the gas to escape.
